Closed Doors explores how the silence surrounding childhood abuse deepens its harm
and perpetuates trauma across generations.
Details
Through symbolism and experimental imagery, Closed Doors examines how a family’s
refusal to acknowledge a child’s experience becomes another source of harm. When we
choose not to acknowledge pain, it does not disappear. Instead, it continues to shape
behaviors and relationships, carrying into future generations. The painted hands
represent both the act of abuse and the complicity of those who conceal it, silence it, or
turn away. I aim to convey trauma as an inherited visible burden and encourage deeper
reflection on the harm perpetuated by the things we choose to ignore out of discomfort.
