Road Rage

When a naive teenager falls deeper in love with her first boyfriend, his affection slowly gives way to manipulation and abuse, forcing her to choose between the boy she loves or escaping his toxic grip.

"Road Rage" is a short film about young love, the relationships that shape us, and how the things we experience when we’re young can affect the way we interpret love as we get older. The story explores manipulation and abuse in young relationships, and how hard it can be to recognize when a person you care so much about is actually hurting you. The story is told through the perspective of Maxine, as she falls in love with an older boy, Tanner. She slowly falls into Tanner's world, losing her sense of innocence and self. Maxine will be portrayed in a way that challenges the preconceived idea that women are “weak” for staying in abusive relationships. I want to explore the emotional attachment, normalization, and conditioning that can make leaving much more complicated, especially at such a young age.
