Details

When a devious and troublemaking Brooklyn teenager who isn’t taken seriously finds out her parents live a double life as criminals, she gets caught up in the middle and sets out on a mission to make a name for herself and uncover her family’s hidden secrets. In the school bathroom one afternoon Belle, known to by her friends and classmates as ”Base” confronts a boy she dragged into the girl's bathroom from making a bomb threat. The school prom is coming up soon and Belle doesn’t want anything getting in the way of her finding her “future husband”. She and her friends scare off the kid, exposing him vengefully leaving him to be a target and chased by more students. After school she goes to her best friend Lisa's house for a movie night until suddenly a story on the news shows up on the tv about a delinquent couple. Lisa gets familiar with the two people on the news report being spotted on the camera suspecting that they’re Belle’s parents. Belle tries to convince her friend that they are not her parents and dial her parents to prove her point. When her mother answers her phone, the woman suspect on the tv picks up a phone. Belle questions her mother and father over the phone and they act suspicious and brush her off, not taking her seriously. Belle leaves her friend’s Lisa's house abruptly, making Lisa concerned by her sudden departure. Belle gets a call from a distant aunt, Aunt Georgina who invites her to stay over. Being stubborn as can be Belle is in denial of this but thinks of how her parents aren’t giving her much attention nowadays. After second guessing herself, Belle takes a bus to her aunt’s house and gets into an altercation with a man on the bus. The bus comes to a stop and lets her off, considering she is a potential threat to the passengers. Belle gets off the bus running the rest of the way to her Aunt Georgina’s apartment. Her auntie sees her in bad condition, greets her in warm arms and invites her inside, lecturing her about her behaviour and how that will affect her life. She suggests that she goes to church more often, but Belle is sceptical. Her auntie offers her a deal that if she goes to church, she will let her in on all the family secrets that have been hidden to her from her parents. The next morning, Belle and Aunt Georgina attend church and meet a girl named Gwen who’s the pastor’s daughter volunteering. As service begins the pastor puts the spot on newcomers, and Belle is one of them calling her up to introduce herself. She notices Gwen and her ex-boyfriend, Cory are in the audience, hugging. Cory and Gwen egg her on past her limit and Belle decides from now on she wants to stand up for herself and to be taken seriously. She wants to prove that she isn’t to be taken advantage of by calling Cory out in front of the Church, leaving her to be stripped of the microphone and her aunt in embarrassment, she makes Belle walk home from service to teach her a lesson. Joining her walk is a boy named Alejandro from the church having a desire to protect her after the confrontation in the church. The two get ambushed by mafia gang members that have bad blood with Belle’s parents, overhearing one of them say “So this is Quinn and Cara’s kid?” . Belle realises it’s her parents’ fault this happened. Base gets jumped and kidnapped by the Mafia Boss and his gang. Her parent’s Quinn and Cara’s selfish actions cost Belle almost her life, leading her to get in a big Mafia brawl and get kidnapped in a helicopter overseas. Alejandro is left behind and he finds Belle’s phone cracked on the sidewalk she dropped and contacts her Aunt Georgina. Alejandro and Aunt Georgina connect with Belle’s parents Quinn and Cara and tell them about what happened to Belle and decide to go on a rescue mission. Belle decides to break out of the Mafia Boss’s luxurious underground lair overseas, fighting some mafia members with the help of Quinn, Cara, her Aunt Georgina and Alejandro. Quinn and Cara want to get payback on Greg for abducting Belle, while Aunt Georgina wants to take Belle out of this mess. Belle decides that she’ll go on her own path with Alejandro, asking him out to prom. She concludes that she wants to take care of the streets unlike her parents and to stand her own ground unlike Aunt Georgina. The night of prom, a group of gang members come up out of nowhere to Belle and Alejandro and tease Alejandro about his new catch. A fight almost breaks out between the 5 of them until there’s an announcement that Belle wins “Sophomore Baddie of the Year”, sneaking her way out of the rumble and making an announcement on the stage. “From now on I am the Princess of Brooklyn, and on my watch there’s no violence unless you want some smoke” with a few objections and cheers. Belle's friends come up and defend her against adversity of her peers and talk about all she’s been through with fighting the mafia boss and fending for herself on the outside, and the crowd shift their gears to support their new prom queen.
