SCRATCH is a sci-fi horror capstone about the toxic ways we seek belonging, and technology’s way of homogenizing our identities to exploit that need. With AI increasingly beoming more of a staple in all aspects of our communication, this is a very important story to tell. Scratch tells this message by seeing our lead struggle between seeking actual help or returning to the warm comfort of a glowing screen. Set in the 90s at the dawn of the internet, we follow Maggie's descent into madness while she uses a therapy program made by her deceased childhood friend. As she begins to unravel, and we see their codependent relationship, their addiction, and the friends' further enmeshment in the wires and cords he believed to be God. This aesthetic/vision will be achievable with lots of unique Production Design, Makeup, and VFX. If you're in any of these departments and are interested in any of these concepts, please let us know!
