About me

Michael Oross is a filmmaker and writer based in Northern New Jersey, currently pursuing his MFA in Film Production with a directing emphasis at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). His work explores the evolving landscape of Americana, often focusing on characters caught between repression, absurdity, and fleeting moments of connection in a fractured world. Michael earned his B.A. in English and Film & Media Studies from Georgetown University, graduating in 2022. During his time there, he served as Reviews Editor for The Georgetown Independent and began shaping his voice as a critic and storyteller. At SCAD, he has expanded his creative practice through screenwriting, experimental film, and narrative direction—deepening his understanding of the craft while pushing into new terrain. In addition to his own creative work, Michael has worked as a Production Assistant on a number of projects including the CBS Special “The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden,” an award winning taping of Billy Joel’s 100th consecutive sold-out show at MSG. On any project he works on, he brings a strong work ethic, a fast-learning mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for every aspect of the filmmaking process. Whether on set or in pre/post-production, he is committed to growing as a well-rounded artist, crew member, and person. Influenced by Robert Altman, David Lynch, Alan J. Pakula, and John Sayles, Michael gravitates toward stories that are character-driven, politically resonant, and steeped in mood and genre. He is actively seeking opportunities across all forms of film and media production.

Send in the Clowns

In a future where automation has replaced labor and the government curates all culture, a washed-up writer receives a misprinted check and stumbles into a bureaucratic farce—risking everything for one last shot at meaning in a world that’s forgotten what that is.
