THE COST

A married couple, struggling to make ends meet, reach their breaking point when the wife finds out her husband has been keeping a disturbing secret that could potentially upend their whole family and life as they know it.

The tone of this film will be dramatically intense, but still very grounded and realistic with the subject matter and the challenges that the characters are facing. The color scheme will be intentionally dark, muted, and claustrophobic to reflect its tense, dramatic tone. The primary colors are muted greens, harsh fluorescent whites, shadows, and warm tones emphasizing the utilitarian nature of the home due to their living situation and lack of income. The green hues, shadows, and warm tones, coupled with the desaturation should evoke a bleak, high-tension atmosphere. The visual tone is designed to heighten the dramatic intensityof the contentious day/night that the couple experience.
