After arriving at a house party hoping to escape an unrequited love, a college student finds an unexpected connection with a stranger who sees her in a way she never expected.
Details
After arriving at a crowded college house party, Amara tries to distract herself from the absence of the boy she has been longing for. Surrounded by music, alcohol, and the chaos of the night, she attempts to lose herself in the party, hoping that enough noise will quiet the feeling of being unwanted.
When the night becomes overwhelming, Amara retreats to the bathroom, where she encounters Indigo, another partygoer seeking an escape of her own. What begins as an unexpected encounter slowly develops into a quiet moment of connection between two strangers. Away from the expectations of the party, Indigo gives Amara something she has been searching for all night: genuine attention.
As they return to the party together, Amara allows herself to become present in the moment. For a brief time, the person she had been waiting for no longer matters. But by morning, the intimacy of the night feels distant. When a message from Indigo appears on her phone, Amara is forced to reckon with a connection she cannot fully remember or understand. Rather than reach back toward it, she chooses to let it disappear.
